SPOKANE, Wash. — The Blue Mountain Community College women’s soccer team pushed one of the NWAC’s top programs to the wire on Wednesday afternoon, but a pair of late second-half goals lifted No. 3 Spokane to a 2–1 win.
After a scoreless first half, Kambelle King broke through for the Timberwolves in the 50th minute, finishing a pass from Emily Moses to give Blue Mountain a 1–0 lead. The goal marked King’s first of the season and capped off a stretch of aggressive attacking play that saw the Timberwolves create several early second-half chances.
Spokane responded with a late surge, leveling the match in the 75th minute on an unassisted strike from Mia Miconi, before Maddie Card scored the go-ahead goal less than a minute later off a feed from Miconi.
Despite the result, Blue Mountain’s defense held strong for most of the match. Goalkeeper Miranda Medrano anchored the back line once again, recording six saves on eight shots on goal, including several key stops to keep the Timberwolves within striking distance.
Blue Mountain was outshot 17–4, but made the most of its limited opportunities, putting one on frame and converting it. The Timberwolves also won three corner kicks and kept their fouls to just two over the 90 minutes.
The loss drops Blue Mountain to 5-6-2 overall (4-6-1 NWAC), while Spokane improves to 10-1-0. The Timberwolves return to action on Saturday, October 25th against Columbia Basin College as they continue their push toward postseason contention.
