SPOKANE, Wash. — The Blue Mountain Community College men’s soccer team faced a tough test on the road Wednesday, falling 5–0 to first-place Spokane (#3 ranked in conference) in Northwest Athletic Conference action.
The Timberwolves held their own early, limiting the Sasquatch attack for much of the opening half. Spokane broke through in the 22nd minute when Lucas Briet found the back of the net off an assist from Austin Armstrong, giving the hosts a 1–0 lead at halftime.
Blue Mountain’s defense continued to battle, but Spokane’s offense came alive in the second half with four unanswered goals to seal the win. Briet added his second goal of the match in the 62nd minute, while Cipriano Acosta Jr., Riley Galloway, and Aimar Alvarez each scored in the final 35 minutes to cap the scoring.
Goalkeeper Gilmer Gomez recorded three saves while facing 19 total shots, anchoring the Timberwolves’ back line against one of the conference’s most potent attacks.
Blue Mountain finished with two shots and two corner kicks, while Spokane tallied 19 shots and six corners on the afternoon.
The loss moves Blue Mountain to 6-7-0 overall (3-6-0 NWAC), while Spokane remains unbeaten at 8-0-1. The Timberwolves will look to bounce back on the road against Columbia Basin College on Saturday, October 25th at noon.
