PENDLETON, Ore. - Coach Brad Baker steps down as the head baseball coach at Blue Mountain Community College after nine seasons at the helm. Instead, Brad Baker will now assume the role of Interim Athletic Director at Blue Mountain Community College. During his time with the Timberwolves, Coach Baker compiled a record of 115 wins. Baker will go down as one of the winningest coaches for BMCC baseball in program history. Coach Baker and the 2019 team won 22 games, which was second most in school history. Brad also helped move on over 60 BMCC baseball players to play at the four year level. In May of 2022, BMCC baseball was named to the top of the list of colleges in the nation with the most active players playing at the NAIA baseball level at 21. Between his playing and coaching career that spans 20 years, he has compiled 304 wins as a player, assistant coach, and head coach. Brad Baker played for BMCC in 2003-2004, he also still holds the program record for relief ERA as a pitcher.
Brad had this to say, "Coaching at BMCC for nine years was one of the biggest joys of my life. I will have many lifelong friendships and memories from my time here as Head Baseball Coach. I want to thank my wife, Kristin, for all of her support throughout the nine years. A big thanks to both Athletic Directors I’ve had here at BMCC: Brett Bryan and Dawn DiFuria and all of the support staff we’ve had. Also, to my assistant coaches here (Chris Henke, Derek Bettinson, and Zach Hibbard) were a tremendous help and I will miss our times together. And last, but not least, I want to thank all of the players that played in the program here. I appreciate your hard work, time, commitment, and the dedication to represent the BMCC Baseball Program in a positive manner. I enjoyed taking the field with you for all of the games and the practices and will forever remember the times together. For the last 20 years I’ve been playing or coaching college baseball and I will miss it a lot, but I look forward to the new challenge as the role as Athletic Director and I will work to continue to help student-athletes have a positive experience at BMCC.”
A hiring search will begin within the next couple weeks for the next head coach at Blue Mountain Community College.
