2024-25 - Bettinson and the Wolves would look to capture the lightning in the bottle again as the defending East Super Regional Champions. Evan Gant would be named to the 1st Team East Region Utility and Zach Reynolds would earn 2nd Team East Region Pitcher honors.

2023-24 - Derek Bettinson was named the 2024 NWAC East Region Coach of the Year. Along with earning this accolade, Coach Bettinson also led the Wolves to their first NWAC East Super Regional win and clinched an appearance at the Northwest Athletic Conference Championsip site for the first time in program history. The Wolves also earned several awards with Tyson Wicklander earning East Region Assistant Coach of the Year, Davis Mauzy earning All-NWAC 1st Team, NWAC East Player of the Year, and 2023-24 All-American. Otho Savage earned 2nd Team East Region Pitcher honors, and Kaden Boyle earned 2nd Team East Region Infield honors. 

2022-23 - Bettinson coached his first season for the Wolves putting them as a very competitive program that would be competing for titles very soon. Under coach Bettinson, Davis Mauzy would go on to earn 2nd Team East Region Outfield honors along with a Gold Glove award. 

In July of 2022, Derek Bettinson became the head coach of the BMCC Timberwolves. 

Career

One of the best hitters in Blue Mountain history, Derek Bettinson, was the assistant coach for the Timberwolves from 2016-2022.  Coach Bettinson works primarily with the hitters for Timberwolves.  Bettinson comes from Vallivue High School in Caldwell, Idaho, where he was an assistant coach for the previous three seasons. 

Bettinson played his collegiate ball at Blue Mountain and Northwest Nazarene.  Bettinson played for the Wolves on the on the 2008 and 2009 squads.  He received first team NWAACC east region honors and second team all NWAAC 1^st baseman award honors.  Bettinson was also selected as the team MVP and holds several BMCC wood bat school batting records.  Bettinson then matriculated to Northwest Nazarene, where he earned 1^st team and 2^nd team all GNAC honors in his two seasons with the Crusaders. 

After finishing his collegiate career, Bettinson continued his baseball career in Europe.  From 2013-2015 Betting played for the Stock City Cubs in Stockerau, Austira, where he won a batting title.
